Thanksgiving dinner is is THE DEFINITIVE American dish, and anyone who suggests otherwise is wrong.
Cranberries, pumpkins, pecans, corn, potatoes, and turkey, are all native to the New World. It's an entire feast with almost all of its staples originating from America.
There's not too much European heritage in the Thanksgiving feast compared to most other American foods like pizza, corn dog, hamburger, hotdog, etc. The exceptions being the wheat used in rolls and stuffing and gravy, the carrots, the green beans, and the butter.
