The right was completely destroyed back in the 90's, when the last traditional party (PNTCD) was dismantled by neocommies; nowadays, the parties that are supposedly on the right are actually pure liberal eurocucks (PNL, USR, UDMR, PMP), while the socialists are actually conservative and allied with the Orthodox Church (most likely for the votes, seeing that the Orthodox Church can amass more than 4+ million people for signatures/votes etc).
There's also the fact that Ceausescu, before '89, employed a type of communism based on nationalism on the verge of extremism (inventing history that was never ours, erasing a huge chunk of our real history etc), which in turn has made people think that nationalism = communism.
