I'm more referring to the social opinion. For example, someone calls you an attention whore as an insult for whatever reason.
Why is that an insult? There has to be some sort of negative connotation the phrase.

Whereas having too much attention will basically just make your ego big, making you feel more important than you are. If having a big ego is the only thing bad about being an attention whore; why is that not also the case for other things which cause that?
Like having a lot of money, for example. There are many things that can cause one have an "ego explosion", and they're socially "acceptable".
