I've given a few a chance to hang out outside of work or offered them help getting set up with their own place and trying to be the older guy that gives them some life advice the dad their moms left didn't.
Some have invited me to parties (I look like I'm in my 20's still).
My social adaptability can range from LAN party, to kick back, to frat party (only thing I can't do is "da club").
They sat around nursing beers heads buried in phones.
I eventually did a talking routine telling jokes and got a mini crowd started but it was bad.
And eventually one guy mixed too much boos with xanax and needed to go to the hospital. It was a downer but they kept trying to party while virtue signalling about caring if he was alright
"Why don't you text the person who drive him to the hospital"
Blank stare
I'm old. I don't get fucked up or drink hard anymore... but these people didn't even socialize or if they listened to me were too scared to speak.
