It was "proved" that there can't be any hidden variables which are determining the behavior of particles at the quantum level. Except, it was bullshit because it was considering simple variables. Not complex chaos which would easily produce entirely unpredictable, seemingly non-deterministic results. However ultimately it is static from a '3rd person view' so it is deterministic.
The woowoo part is that even with this given deterministic static universe, your consciousness is still experiencing time as it goes through, and experiencing all possible choices you might make. What chooses where "your" actual consciousness goes? One theory is that we experience the best possible reality at all times, but this is fucking stupid because the other realities are still existing as well, so they still also have consciousness. I think it boils down to how consciousness is really formed which is partway illusion. Only the mind can view impossible objects.
