Both make unique thumbnails, both put good amounts of effort in and have a lot of reactivity to their chat, a lot of likes and shit plus they each get followup views later on. Hell Greg is the poster child for doing everything right and getting nothing out of it from Youtube's discoverability engine.
I've only ever heard of people growing audience size on Twitch, never Youtube past a certain point, all of the big name Youtube people like Pewdiepie did so in an era before algo required basedjak faces and shit. The modern algo fucking sucks.
