>especially if you have no clue about the market.seems like the key piece of information to me. obviously going way under or way over would be an issue, but especially for entry level positions it seems like it would be easy to have a pretty good idea what sort of number you should be looking at. obviously you shouldn't go in demanding any number or shooting for the moon, but i can't see casually throwing out something slightly above average ever being a problem.
