>>20413901>Insomniacs after darkKimi wa Houkago Insomnia is one of if not the most casually romantic pieces of fiction I’ve ever read. It’s somehow so elegantly amazingly in how smooth and relaxed the relationship between the couple is. You just feel how not just in love they are but also just how happy they are to be around each other and complete they fill each other’s lives. Makoto Ojiro’s romance style is a blessing and pure suicide fuel to me. She perfected the balance between the teenage awkwardness of falling in love and navigating those feelings with having her characters be relatively mature and straightforward for their age, which makes the progression so enjoyable to follow. There’s often a lot of silence and subtlety in her characters’ interaction and I appreciate that. The worst thing about the manga is how it completely took over my perception on romance and how I view every other romances, where I’m subconsciously comparing Insomnia with every other pieces of romance media I consume.
