Ive read plenty of literature from the 19th and early 20th century, when feminism was still just " the woman question" and the most consistent motif in this proto-feminist era was that men were constantly and consistently alienating women, treating not just their wives but their children like shit. the trifecta was pretty much alcoholics beating the shit out of their family, the apathetic/disinterested men who couldn't be bothered to lift a finger to maintain a healthy relationship with their wife and/or kids, and the resentful "Faustian" man/narcissist who just straight up doesn't give a shit about traditional relationships in the first place
essentially women were constantly trapped in these sorts of horrible situations, often consequentially since they were traded as commodities rather than values as lovers and life-partners,
ironically what a lot of the early protofeminists wanted was essentially EXACTLY what the anti-feminist "male loneliness epidemic" men want deep down inside, which was just a normal healthy loving relationship as God intended
Feminism pretty much never would have taken society the way it did if it wasn't for the fact that the women question dealt with a lot of spiritually serious and sympathetic issues that women had to deal with
