Your bad experiences sound par for the course. It must be why all the American tech companies are kind of imploding while this game of vertical integration is going on. I don't see Google lasting to the end of this decade, to be frank. They have a horrible track record and it's only getting worse. Its three siblings (need I even name them) are no better off and they'll likely also vanish.

He was a doctor, so he "subtly" guided me to chase a STEM career. Very pragmatic, but terribly demoralizing for a hopeful child. It's also simply not true, people make a living as a writer.
