Therefore, all calculations would be wrong if you base it on the wrong model of earth. Three 90° turns (at a distance like in the picture) on a sphere brings you back to the beginning. On a plane you need four such turns as represented by the square on the flat earth. If a navigator is plotting for a sphere when he's in fact on a plane his course will drift unless he follows a completely straight path. If he has to navigate around anything at all like a storm, his course will be fucked if he's using the wrong model to calculate his path.
So independent on which model is true, a huge amount of people must either be flat earthers or be in on the secret plot of lying to everyone else. And apparently they're either very quiet about being flat earthers or they're amazingly dedicated to the conspiracy.
