What “matters” in life is what you personally believe “matters” to you. You may think “Family matters!” or “Friends matter!” however neither of these things are necessary nor are they experienced by all people. This means, of course, that whether or not something “matters” is determined by the individual, and not a bigger cognitive factor. Once you become aware that something exists, you are given an emotional response that affirms that it matters. However, this response can be nullified under the right circumstances. These things no longer matter if the conditions are met. So why try to care about anything? The universe is merely an accidental joke in the eye of the beholder, so trying to find something that actually “matters” is impossible because even when you do, you are able to erode this matter. It will not hold up. This is assuming certain criteria take place. These criteria, at least to the best of my knowledge, likely involves negative exposure to the subject that matters. This may not be true, but it is important that you manage to nullify all other things that matter if you wish to proceed. Once these things have been nullified, you are no longer tethered by primal instincts and you can now choose what matters in life. How will you determine this? It’s simple. Pick something that means a lot to you, and expose yourself positively to it. Convince yourself that this thing matters, and allow it to consume your life. Be unwilling to change it for anyone because, after all, nothing else matters. Only this. Why would you go through all this trouble? Because without doing this, you are lost. You will spend the rest of your life in chains as you slowly lose everything you once cared about. Every decision you make, every thought you have, should be relevant to this obsession of yours.
