Hmmm I don't really know how things work for you but here there's a list of companies you can do your practice and they have limited lists. If you're not getting accepted to any, you be put on the university list which is like what you said, uni classes of sorts and work(example when high school graduates want to join, you'll help with some paper work or whatever). The ones who get a practice place within a company will have to do just 120 hours in total(I think?) and their schedule is flexible (4-6 hours a day or something like that)
