Modern humans arose in Africa 200,000 years ago, but did not leave the continent en masse until around 60,000-70,000 years ago-- AFTER the eruption of Mt. Toba. That means that those 10,000 breeding pairs I talked about were centralized in northern Africa and parts of the Middle East. Hominids existed in India and Europe, but they were not Homo Sapiens.
