Actually it's curious you mention animals, when in fact humans are also animals.
Just a different variation of the DNA on thi planet, but still you have humans that have brap fetish , they love to smell farts.
Also humans pee and poop like animals also, same position like monkeys , it's just that now we use toilets and you just sit, but if you are in the woods with no toilet around you will position in fecal posture just like a monkey in the jungle.
So the animal side of the brain is still very in practice even with all technology, there is still a huge activity in the animal mammal side of the human brain
