>The journal, written by an ice wizard who appears to be this tower's previous owner, gives you a plethora of useful information, including a map detailing the layout of the tower, and what's more, the journal reveals the methood and functions of the runes you currently encountered, allowing you to emulate them at will on any frozen surface (though since you aren't trained for magic you need to carry around the book and an exact pattern of the rune in order to do the deed.) You're thankful that you can read! As you discover more ice runes, you will be able to record and emulate them, and luckily this library has copious amount of writing materials to make recording runes in the tower at least a single action.
