The other major factor I see is that these kosher conservative types are somehow surprised that young men refuse to take responsibilities when they receive none of the authority for sad responsibility.
Can a man really truly be the head of the household, the husband in charge, when at the drop of a hat the woman can leverage the entire authority and power of the State against him.
At this point in time the man has only as much authority as a husband as on a given day the woman feels like abdicating, so therefore he has no true authority.
Is passivity and hedonism a good alternative in current times for man?
No, of course not.
Problem is you're trying to motivate men to do worldly things with only mildly better worldly returns.
Man has no more purpose, he's no longer the father and the husband, he is no longer the man pushing manifest and destiny forward, he is no longer the man implementing God's will.
Give men a real true man to follow, who strips them of the “freedom” of suicide rotting away and gives them the “tyranny” of a glorious purpose.
