>>12582763yes! the new thought is to essentially make it a two part system where the players and npcs both have some resource (ie something like "charisma" and "agreeability" respectively") and in order to make the equivalent of social checks in d&d you need to spend both resources.
so for example when talking to a shopkeep you could spend 5 of your own charisma and consume 5 of their agreeability to get a discount on your purchase.
naturally agreeability will be effected by all sorts of factors and the exact number will be hidden by default but players will be able to build their character around getting higher charisma pools as well as ways to determine/manipulate the agreeability of npcs
