Here is another Tamagochi experience, Monster Breeder. it does look like an upgrade conceptually, but aside from breeding/mixing monsters with alchemy, it all looks and sounds unsettlingly bad. It is being developed by one man though, who is maybe too autistic to understand what sounds and looks bad, not sure. I wouldn't be able to play it. Dwarf Fortress ascii looks better than this
