1. I stopped using marijuana as well. I found that I had a comorbid relationship such that using weed made me more likely to use porn. It's much easier to resist if I'm not high, so I stopped getting high.
2. After discussing with a therapist, we decided I should be allowed to jack off periodically without porn. It is natural to have some amount of sexual release. It's the supernormal stimulus from porn that is unnatural. This made it easier to resist porn knowing that I didn't have to worry about never nutting again, which was too much pressure and inevitably lead to failure.
3. Whenever I got the urge to watch porn I would force myself to play one game of chess first. The idea being that putting some time between the initial impulse and using would give me some time to let the urge pass and make it easier to resist. Doesn't have to be chess, that's just what I chose. But delaying the action after the impulse is a great way to reduce the odds you will relapse.
4. I really want to stress how huge meditation was for me. I think this was the single most important factor in making the progress that I have. I experienced things through this process that radically altered my perspective.
5. Never forget that it's about progress, not perfection. You will fuck up. You will relapse. But if you are putting the work in you will gradually improve. It took me about a year and half of serious work on this to reach a point where I'm now doing exceptionally well, but I got there, and you can too. I believe in you.
