The purpose of communism would be to reduce as much working hours as possible and let people follow their true passions in life. If society can produce twice as many food as the world can eat, why not be given more free time and work four hours instead of eight?
Of course, unlike a socialist society, there is no currency in communism since the state is not needed anymore and society is working to meet its needs rather than arbitrary profits. Currency is a useless yet toxic thing.
