If you asked on the streets what WE were doing in 16th - 17th century you would get numerous blank stares; forget about Poland. Even quite recent history, let's say WW1 and the colonial era, has more or less disappeared from the general discourse.
Maybe it's a med thing, the Carpe diem lifestyle and so on, or maybe it's the "end of history" narrative, but we have no big worries or resentments about the past.
