>>16020331He just doesn't need to stop and think about it, because why would he when everything that he thinks at the moment is simply right?
Although, I've no idea about what made him detach so far away from societal norms in the first place, enough for him to take her into that place. Maybe because of his time as a taxi driver? I mean, like he said at the start of the movie, he spends long hours now, six or seven days a week. Through the afternoon to the morning, so, the whole night. Imagine spending every single day and hour of your life driving around and experiencing the kind of city that NYC was, at the time. Travis grew to hate the depravity of it all, but he didn't know anything other than it. He did want a normal life, but he's just really detached from what "normal" is, at this point. He doesn't really know it. So, pretty much all he knows is the bad of the city, and that it indeed is bad. Just how many people has he had to take over to that same porn theater countless times, during his long night hours?
And, hell, how many "couples" did he drive over there? Likely a pimp and his ho', guessing that the front of a porn theater would be a great spot for a prostitute to find employment around, no? After long enough of that, maybe it's just what's delved into the mind of Travis that, it's simply where you take a woman that you happen to like. You'd think that he would see how the people who are doing those things are the same vile ones that he hates so much, but it's just that while seeing that they're wrong, he still pays no attention to making sure that he's not assimilated into the same behaviour, because again, he's the righteous one. He can go around killing as much as he wants and doing things like taking a woman to such a place, but he'll never be like the filth of the city still. He doesn't realize that when the rain comes away to wash away all the scum off the streets, it'll take away him as well. Char lim.
