I'm first-generation Italian-American. My parents are from Calabria and moved to New York City. My family has since moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to escape the communist enclave that is NYC.
I drink espresso every day, usually twice a day. As a child, my mother made us something called "uovo sbattuto" for breakfast before school (pic related). It means "mixed egg" or "beaten egg", and it is simply an egg yolk and a tablespoon of sugar whipped up in a coffee cup until it becomes like a custard, and then a shot of espresso blended in. Perfect way to wake up your body and mind and give you a burst of energy.
As an adult, I drink espresso in the morning. Sometimes I mix it into a cup of coffee. I always have espresso after dinner. I always drink it black, no sugar, to taste the bean.
