It's hard to explain because most White Americans are a mix of multiple different European nations, so it can be hard to tell their ancestry or what they look like.
Here's another thing I've heard. I don't know what it means, but maybe you can figure it out since you live in Europe. When I'm clean shaven, 50% of people say I'm Russian, maybe 25% say German and 25% say they can't tell. However, when I've grown my full beard out a couple times, people say I look "super Russian". I don't know how a beard would make me look Russian, but that's what they say...
