I think the mommy/son kink stems from young men not finding a nurturing, sexual woman in their own lives. Men are meant to be nurtured by their wives. It's natural for a man to want to be nurtured, sexual and otherwise, by a woman. Because young (western) men aren't finding that in any of their (western) women; the closest thing that they have is the image of the nurturing mother. The mommy/son kink represents sexual security (mother/son relationship is secure), nurturing (mom taking care of the son), and unbridled lust--all of these things conspicuously absent from most relationships.
