this guy has a habit of picking some outdated/cringy meme or phrase and intentionally using it as much as possible. he posts warped doge memes constantly nowadays for example.
>>9384671>You would look at the movie the same way with colors.you wouldn't though. shadows look a lot darker in black and white because of the relative contrast for example. another use is to make it ambiguous what color something is "supposed" to be which can matter for symbolism. for horror/thrillers it can also serve to make things creepier since black and white is obviously unnatural and especially in busy scenes it can make it harder to make out fine details without just making everything dark
there are definitely other options to achieve similar effects individually especially these days and i'm not saying there's many things that would benefit greatly from being black and white, but it's a stylistic choice with a lot more thought and purpose than "we should make it look that casablanca movie" or something
