and yeah, cold war cultural isolation was quite interesting. it's funny talking to my parents about it. my dad was a tour guide and when westerners left him tips he'd have to go to some office and declare how he got posession of actual currency and there would be only one or two shops he could spend it at. also another thing was that they'd listen to westerner music on pirate radio stations and they didn't know the original song titles, they only knew the bulgarian translations of the titles. so instead of pink floyd - another brick in the wall, it was "pink floyd - тyхлa в cтeнaтa".
