Anxiety is your flight or fight response demanding an answer and you don't give it an answer at all by distracting yourself and ignoring it. "Modern" psychologists/therapists tell you that you should distract yourself but by doing that you're making your fight or flight response stronger and stronger and strong until you are forced to answer the questions that it needs answered.
Try this next time you have anxiety about anything at all: will it kill me? can I do something about it? what will I do about it? do I need to deal with this now or will dealing with it at some point in time in the future be OK?
That should calm your anxiety extremely fast. The thing that is causing your flight and flight part of your brain to give you anxiety is the unknown. Make the unknown known when and how you will deal with something and it will go away almost immediately.
