If I did permanently ban him, later down the line, people would perhaps not notice the difference between that and him simply leaving due to boredom, but that feels like it would be an overreach and run into being a biased decision, as I never liked him even when he wasn't inciting rage.
The poll idea doesn't strike me as anything that would be at all effective, as we have no 4chan pass user equivalent and Google polls are clunky and discourage people from participating based on principal. I have a feeling sticking my head out onto the board proper would exacerbate the issue further.
The reason I care so much is that I liked reading through and reviewing the community's interactions even if I wasn't the most advent participant myself, and wanted to preserve that train of conversation, but now I'm at a loss on how to revert things in any timely faction. Anons are exploding and namefags are taking sides, and what's left of the rest of the staff is as clueless as I am on how to fix things.
