I'm not saying we might not be able to extend the average lifespan (although we've only managed to do that by lowering the death rate for newborns), And I'm not saying medical science hasn't developed functional remedies for the sick & injured, I'm saying that we haven't gone much past the "three score & ten" age limit that was spoken of thousands of years ago.
And we will NEVER find any technology that allows an individual to stay alive indefinitely. You were not meant to be immortal, and every time we think we have found a way to do it, some horrible side affect will fuck it all up.
And the idea that you can place your "consciousness" in a computer & live forever, has always been ludicrous. The imitation of yourself that is uploaded will never be anything other than a fake simulation, your actual soul will leave your body when it dies, perhaps to be born into another body, or to wander through some other dream of the creator's, we don't know, and no religion has that knowledge, either.
