The first I was left with over all these years all have discord servers, and don't get me wrong I enjoy discord a lot. It's a great program but using the game as discord was a lot more fun.
Shit like RO, shit like Call of Duty 1~2 servers, where you had 20~30 people all knowing each other shittalking, rivalries, bants, that was the time.
These little speech buble emotes conveyed more feelings then any 3D MMO ever could it's crazy. I love FFXIV but the number 1 thing it clearly missing is these emotes. The 3D world is simply too busy with shit I can't see you "laughing" or anything similar. Hell the RO would was too busy if they made animate sprite emotes I wouldn't have ever been able to tell.
