A narcissist KNOWS that the purpose of other people is to benefit them; therefore, if you are not actively engaging in behaviors that do so, you are attacking them because you are failing in the singular purpose of your existence. Put yourself in the mind of a tick, not getting to suck blood is a threat to its life. Same idea.
Narcissists "believe" (know) this because they have idiotic all-or-nothing thinking. If you're not with them, you're against them. The idea of them not mattering to you is completely alien in a way you will never understand. Thus, to avoid the trauma of being ignored, they compel you through shame and humiliation to get you to do what they want.
If you interact with a female and understand how they view "dating" this becomes very obvious. As a man, you are expected to use attractiveness and resources to successfully convince them to let you entertain them personally and pay them while expecting nothing in return. It is fundamentally one-sided. An intelligent and kind woman (they do exist) will understand you not wanting to do this and treat you as a romantic non-entity. To these women, it's a matter of getting the best deal they can. But to a truly narcissistic woman, not working yourself to death for the chance to worship her booze sharts and her fat gunt is worse than straight-up beating the shit out of her, because at least a beating means she's worth the physical exertion to you. Even trying and failing is an attack, they NEED you to succeed.
Given the pervasive social norm that places the male as the supplicant, and the woman as the host/parasite, few women maintain integrity, so the others' narcissism runs rampant and permeates society. That's where we are, literally the worst aspect of humanity is worshipped as a god and, by its nature, you are its biggest existential threat if you do not act exactly as it wants you to, successfully.
