Why does God (Yahweh Elohim), hate the Jews (Canaanites)?
God (Yahweh, God of War) hates the Canaanites because they worship Dagan (Earthen God of Fertility) and Hadad (God of Storms).
Original, God's father, El (God of Sky) wants Yam (God of Sea, brother of Yahweh), to be chief of the Gods. Hadad kills Yam, and this angers El, so El sends Yahweh to wage war on Dagan and Hadad, including the Canaanites who worship these Gods.
This is literally the entire point of the Old Testament, God teaching the Hebrews to wage war on the Canaanites. Most all of the prohibitions in the Old Testament are prohibition of Canaanite ritual, and God mercilessly kills his own people who tolerate the Canaanites(Numbers 25). In Numbers 25, you can even see the Hebrews seduced by Belphegor (Baal'peor), the Demonic Prince of Sloth, principle Demon Prince of the White race and the reason why Europe became the home of "ingenious inventions"

The reason why God talks to "death" like it is a person here is because he is talking to his brother Mot, God of Death. Again, God shows he is a merciless and unforgiving God. Far more likely to torture and kill you for treason than he is to forgive you.
