Yes and no. Definitely not for the reason you’re thinking. Games follow the flows of the society it’s created in. The Japanese have a lower aoc than in America and it shows in their media. That’s why high school girls get sexualized in anime.
This reflection can be seen throughout American games. We put out tons of shooter games because we have a pervasive amount of gun culture.
Gaming is dying because of this though. The more games that pander to culture and societal trends instead of being creative world of art the worse the content will be.
In a way it’s a no win situation. You can either be unique and traditional or you’re putting women in a ww2 game.
