As for why women use "I only date taller guys..." it's a subtle way of saying "don't waste your time, I will never date you". Women don't just come out and say stuff like that usually, so they pick on something the guy can't change and scapegoat that instead. Height, skin colour, eye colour, star sign, you name it, of you can't change it, a woman will use it as a firm refusal.
