A big part of the theme is unconnected disparate stories that the characters, like the audience, are just sort of passing through for a short while. It's pretty consistent in that regard.
I always get a very comfy vibe from it though.
Irreparable is overdoing it I think. It's easy to argue for sacrifices if you don't think you'll have to make any yourself though.
