Your anonymity does not go away, but it is indeed limited. The question that you have to ask for yourself is: "Are these limitations to my anonymity good?". I say some of the good things in my earlier post, but I'm not saying that using a tripcode comes without bad things or that tripcodes are an ultimate good. You lose your complete anonymity, and you gain accountability for what you're posting.

Nicknames are not one of those reasons. A big problem with reddit is that reading through post history is extremely easy. With 4chan, you do have to put some effort into doing it. You have to rely on third-party archives, etc. But even so, you will still be accountabile for your posts and you will act more maturely as a result.
