I'm in RTP now, it liberal but fairly chill. No cops. More lax liquor laws (than pa). Generally more friendly. You can escape into the mountains or coast and based bros are still around.
Ashville is a beautiful cheap Apalachicola place. But it's filled with fucking hippies and craft beer. I would avoid at all costs unless you like crystals, weed, and fucking Bernie chicks with dreads.
Consider Boone if you want a more country place and still in the mountains.
