>>12918561>medium duty truck with large slide-in camperThis is similar to what I've done except I built the 'house' body semi-permanent on my truck. The slide-in is a good configuration but has a few drawbacks vs mine.
Pros:
If truck breaks, easy to put 'house' on new truck
No customization needed
Cons:
Less interior space (truck bed / void around it)
Built more shittily (racking off-road, long-term survivability, rot resistance, resell value)
Poorly insulated
I wanted to maximize my interior space for the footprint of the vehicle so I took the body off an 11' dump truck, extended the frame 2' and built a house on it. Plus chicks dig the tinyhouse stuff. I can't go 2 days without someone complimenting my truck or giving me a thumbs up in traffic.
>>12918569>Based. How much to make this? Interior?I built it for about $23k including the truck. The framing is all 2" square tube welded into one cage with mitered joints for maximum weld surface area and diagnoal braces in the bays. 2 part spray foam insulation. 32" one piece shower stall. On demand hot water. Solar, kitchen sink, bath sink, couch, Cali king size bed, DC refrigerator, etc. Can heat without electricity too. I've been all over the country with no physical address the last several years. Rent and mortgauges are dumb, gay and extraneous.
Here's an old interior picture. I've changed a lot since then.
