>>16560236There is no way that the chair was placed there by the level designer without the intention of you climbing it in mind. They WANTED you to do it, but you just can't. (There is a crate or something by the next room through the ventilation duct, but I think that's just coincidence, it doesn't really make sense for them to have intended for you to be moving objects throughout ventilation ducts, because it's pretty dumb.)
So, I guess some guy got lazy and assigned the wrong properties to every single chair in the game?
But, no. Emphasis on EVERY single chair. It's not just assigning one set of properties to chairs in general and being done with it, no, they had to go through every chair in the game individually and set it's properties. That means they had to have made the conscious decision to not allow you to stand on top of chairs, I can't comprehend how it would be an oversight. Motherfuckers. Why.
The one excuse you could give for this is that they couldn't really make a realistic "standing on chair" with the engine they had, what I mean by that being, you couldn't make it so the player is able to stand on the seat of the chair, only on top of the backrest.
Thing is, that doesn't matter. Nobody's expecting you to make a super realistic implementation of standing on chairs. It's worse for you to not allow the player to use the object how it was intended. Absolutely nobody would've questioned it if you were allowed to stand on top of chairs, even if it looked a bit goofy. That's just how video-games were.
Either way, I feel like that wasn't it either. Because if they were trying to make objects realistic, then why can you stand on top of garbage bags? Did the developers think garbage bags are as hard as metal crates? What the fuck did they throw in their garbage over there in their studio? None of this makes any sense. Please just make it so you can stand on chairs.
Oh, and I forgot, JC also can't climb barrels.
