I have bred outstanding working coonhounds my entire life and I can tell you as a matter of fact that if you do not selectively breed an animal for a task you wind up getting garbage and huge breed inconsistency.
Because dog fighting is outlawed in the US, most american pit bulls are just fat lazy couch potatoes who sit around and eat all day- totally incapable of actually winning a match, despite what their delusional owners say.
there are a few good strains and bloodlines left in america though, but these dogs are often referred to simply as "game dogs" and not pit bulls.
Pit bulls should be shot, not because they are aggressive, but because they have been mass produced and recklessly bred by low IQ dumbasses as a "pet" animal.
As a working animal (a fighting dog) some american pit lines are some of the best on the planet, unfortunately that's not what most people own. Today's pit bull looks nothing like a gamedog, it's just a bowlegged freak with a bad attitude
