status updates are boring to post but i dont really have anything i feel like talking about. no essays today
and at that point i shouldnt be posting at all but its compelling to keep your garbage alive. i think when, or if i migrate to some nice little gravechan the one big advantage will be not dealing with that
been feeling like playing through half life 2 for some reason. ive actually never done it. the only half life games ive played through were blue shift and opposing force, not even the original cause i dont know, it always just came off as boring to me. for its time it mustve been a really good game, sure, but to me half life 1 feels too sluggish to play. i just dont really like the combat in it, i guess. its not like i dislike games from that era, ive played quake 1 a lot, and thats a great game to compare it to, actually. i like the movement and combat in quake a lot but when it comes to half life things feel slow and more tedious. im sure thats the intent they were after, to make a bit of a slower and more tactical game rather than jumping around and shooting everything (even if thats what people end up doing in half life 1 anyway) but its not really refined enough for me to prefer it over anything else. primarily i just dont like how weak the weapons feel, no matter what i use in goldsrc it feels like im holding a peashooter, pump 4 meatshots into someones chest with a shotgun and they dont die, idk, i never enjoyed how it felt. and it hasnt been too long since i last experienced it, a while ago i played through some campaigns on sven coop with buddies and yeah, i really didnt like the feel of the game then neither. not that i hated it, but nothing i would boot up and play. even if i was in the nineties when half life 1 first came out id play quake over it instead i think, lol. im in the group that thinks half life is overrated, basically.
