You read studies to see how they performed the studies, so you can poke holes in the biased way it's been conducted.
Midwits read the headline of news articles linking "studies" to appear clever and cuddle their worldviews.
In essence, a study is an argument, backed by experiments and/or statistic analysis.
Spouting the findings of a study is an opinion, it has no inherent argument until the argument has been defined. And you should never believe something unless you've been given a rational argument in support of said opinion.
Thus, read studies. Dissect it. Don't read headlines of studies.
