She was just trying to be nice because she didn't want to call him a psycho.I wouldn't go that far, she seems to have had a good measure of his personality inside the tank, and took a lot of time trying to tard wrangle him out of rage situation, there is a reason she was first through the doorway during the mallet incident after all, she was basically managing his mood swings for the better part of a week or two by then while Ben and Jet were just being flippant about the whole thing, intentionally trying to spark him into a rage. Its just these kind of people like Jimmy and Summer can be psychic vampires that just devour huge amounts time and sanity from normal people, Tay herself is trying to reestablish her life after the disaster she had of a relationship and resulting eating disorders from it, I can't fault her for trying to save someone when she herself is floundering.
People seem to forget that Tay had one of the most tortured pasts in the show, and a few months before the show she was in literally beaten into a coma.
