"Andi, you don't ever need to thank me for-" she hesitates, as the full extent of everything Andi just said begins to sink in. Did Andi just say the L word? I love you? Robyn's mouth hangs open in shock, then her heart starts racing. She must have imagined that, right?
Then Andi starts to lean forward. Eyes closed. Lips poised for a kiss. She did not imagine it. What she heard was very real. Her heart pounds faster, harder. Uncomfortably so now. Robyn's wildest dreams were coming through and she was frozen in shock like an idiot. Fuck! She didn't even say I love you back yet!
Her mind races, caught between saying it, or completing the kiss THEN saying it... shit. What she should do? She had to say it back and wanted to. She undoubtedly loves Andi. But it would be super awkward to start talking right when Andi is about to kiss her. But what if she's taking too long to say I love you back and Andi gets the wrong idea? Her heart pounds even harder and she's sure she's about to start sweating everywhere.
Then the notification comes through on the phone, Robyn panics, seizes the distraction and shows it to Andi, and the moment is gone.
Robyn nods rapidly as Andi speaks. "Y-yeah! Like you said, w-we've gotta make sure we're ready. Sh-show everyone we're the best." She smiles nervously. "I won't let you down."
