Most Catholics on /pol/ would literally, unironically have been put to death in antiquity and the middle ages by Catholics for spreading heresy and blasphemy.
The one and only "church father" to take a non-literal interpretation of Genesis was Origen, and he was a Gnostic. Everyone else took it all as literally true.
