>>18689785Time passes as Carmody rests in her hospital bed. She is vaguely aware of the doctor and nurses moving in and out, and things happening around her, but for now she is content to stay at the far reaches of consciousness.
>"She really beat the shit outta me, huh?"Is there anyone in the room to hear her say that? Carmody's not sure. Her voice sounds thick and hoarse, to her.
But the words are true.
Carmody Jefferson had come to the WWA arrogant and self-assured, certain that wrestling would come easily to her. She was unprepared for anything like what had happened with Nika. One thing was for sure, this was NOT the same Nika that Carmody had seen when studying old videos, the weak bumbling young woman who couldn't win a match. Nika had grown stronger and was now a lethal opponent far beyond Carmody's own limited ability. She'd underestimated her, lost badly, and paid dearly for it.
First, Carmody would have to recover from her injuries. After that, Carmody would have to get stronger too. It would be a long, difficult road, but it was now one she was determined to take.
Her eyes open. She wonders to herself, idly, how soon she can check out of the hospital. Can she stand now?
