The same trite fucking focus of pseudo-slapstick humour that had anime touted as garbage in Japan the first 30 years. Fucking fanservice plaguing the marketing and editorial decisions -- preying on the sexuality of the younger generations on one side while force feeding subpar hack attempts at ages-old childrens' lit morals on the other side.
These are the very reasons Berserk and GITS, PsychoPass and Evangelion are great. They give in to some things, for familiarity or relatability, but they speak to the characters and the story more than they do to appeasing normalfags for a couple extra dollars.
