Obviously I didn't plan to stay a neet for this long. I just kept doing it because I could get away with it, always thinking that I'd stop and get it together soon enough. But if nothing's really forcing you to get it together, if you're in your comfort zone avoiding responsibility, then you're unlikely to change until it starts seriously impacting your quality of life. It never did mine, so I never changed. Of course, I'm 23 now and it's my own problem I need to fix, but that's not to say my parents didn't completely neglect teaching any responsibility and putting pressure on me to be normal.
